May is National Foster Care Month in the U.S.!
I know several expat families here in China who have considered adoption, but have gotten stuck because it seems too difficult, or too costly, while living overseas. If you are considering adoption and are a U.S. citizen, please consider adopting from U.S. foster care. Over 100,000 kids are waiting to be adopted, and adopting from foster care is FREE in many cases.

Some of the information is more geared towards those wishing to do an international adoption (adopting from a country other than their passport country), but many of the steps are the same, such as getting a homestudy done.

Hello!!! i read on your page you help us u.s.citizen living abroad to foster adopt a child. I’m a u.s.citizen living on my lovely island of ischia,,italy,,the no crime nor violence island off the coast of naples,italy. The perfect place to raise a child in. I loved and cherished children all my life,,i even have a child development diploma from the u.s.a. but,,as fate would have it,,i never did marry,,never did meet anyone to marry…i pray to ,,so my adopted child will also have a father. I have worked in daycare programs of elementary school children in california. I grew up in san pedro,california due to my daddy’s,,, may he r.i.p.,,, fishing career doing so well back in the early 1970’s. I love children so much,,i started babysitting at the age of ten. Here,,italy is great and all..but very behind on singles adoptions. Singles are not able to adopt here in italy…just married couples 3 years married and not any less. I would love to adopt a little girl fosterchild age one to 5..i already have 4 adorable nephews in california,,it’s time our family has a little girl to join in. I know u.s.a. does not discriminate with age,,nor marital status..i just turned 53 september 4th, 2017,,i thank God i’m fit and healthy to raise my child well. People consider me to me at least 35 to 40 years of age..thank God. Do you have a page on fb? so i can put like on your page. I hope and pray you are able to help me adopt a precious little girl. Maria, it’s nice to “meet” you and hear about your desire to adopt a little girl. I’m not really an expert on adoption, but I do think the links I posted on this page are excellent places to start. A few of them have forums with experienced parents, or links to other contacts that can help. Hopefully they can answer your questions and match you with resources to get you pointed in the right direction. I believe you’re correct that singles can adopt from U.S. foster care though other countries (such as China) don’t permit singles to adopt. Best wishes on your adoption journey!

EMILY!! NIce to meet you as well. Thank you for responding. Here in italy,too,,they don’t allow singles to adopt..but, thank God u.s.a. does. I don’t know how to get in contact with other fosterchildren adoption services for us americans living overseas,,,i would truly appreciate your help in this.
